This home-made recording is an expression of gratitude for the musical landscape of my life. I have been on a six string journey for six decades starting with an inexpensive Spanish guitar that my father brought home from a trip to Puerto Rico in 1963 (see the Vincente Tatay label of that guitar on the right). I studied classical guitar as an undergraduate music major and was fortunate to hear and meet the legendary guitarist, Andrés Segovia – a defining moment for me. I went on to pursue a vocation as a priest in the Episcopal Church where I have been serving parishes for the past 38 years. Like prayer, the guitar has continued to be a daily contemplative practice helping me find beauty in the midst of the challenges that life constantly presents.

There have been many wonderful teachers who have inspired me and taught me the intricate technique of the instrument. Thanks to Jason Vieaux for reigning my commitment with his kind affirmation and guidance. To Drew Henderson who stretched my knowledge of guitar repertoire and inspired me to pursue a recording of my own. To Simon Pows and Dave Belcher at the Classical Guitar Corner Academy and to the many enthusiastic friends I have met there.

Heartfelt thanks to my wife Debbie, for her support and unimaginable patience during the countless hours of repetition and refinement that went into these recordings. Peace, grace, and many guitars, Rick+
